Master ignition and carb tuning. Set timing, balance carbs, and perfect your classic’s performance and reliability.

Designed exclusively for those who have already completed the two-day class, it takes you deeper into the engine — the beating heart of your classic.

Fuel & Fire: Ignition and Carburettors

Get hands-on with the systems that make your engine run sweetly. If the engine is the heart of your car, fuel and ignition are its lifeblood and spark. This workshop takes you through the essentials of getting the best performance and reliability from your classic’s fuelling and ignition systems.

What you’ll cover:

  • Distributor operation: Checking both mechanical and vacuum advance.
  • Timing: How to set static and dynamic timing accurately.
  • Carburettors: Identifying carburettor types, checking base settings, idle/air bypass adjustment, and base mixture setting.
  • Float chamber checks: Testing float needle serviceability and adjusting float height.
  • Carb balancing: Practical step-by-step techniques for smooth running.
  • Fuel pump inspection: Identifying pump types and checking operation.

By the end, you’ll be confident in diagnosing running issues, making adjustments, and keeping your car performing at its best.

This course isn’t about dry theory — it’s about getting your hands dirty, building real confidence, and developing the skills to look after your own car.
