Learn rhythms and chords of a few progressions and songs from this lovely Brazilian style of the 1950s-60s

Fun with Bossa Nova!

Four Monday evenings, January 19th through February 9th from 6:00-6:50 pm

We will be in the main venue at Artichoke Music!

Learn rhythms and chords of a few progressions and songs from this lovely Brazilian style of the 1950s-60s. For singer-guitarists, although if you play a different instrument and are interested, check with instructor.

Guitarists can be at any level except complete beginner.

You should be comfortable changing chords and keeping a beat, and willing to try new things, practice daily between sessions, and have fun!

Bring an acoustic guitar (nylon string preferred).

Bio:

Steve Cheseborough is a cult figure among aficionados of 1920s-30s-style blues.

His chilling re-creations of Bo Carter, Robert Johnson, Blind Lemon Jefferson and

other early blues masters turn any setting into a jook joint for the night.

Cheseborough also is a respected authority on the blues, as author of the

acclaimed guidebook Blues Traveling: the Holy Sites of Delta Blues, and a contributor

to Living Blues, Acoustic Guitar and other publications. He appeared in the

documentary Last of the Mississippi Jukes, also featuring Morgan Freeman and Chris

Thomas King, and was host and musical director of Mississippi Public Broadcasting’s

nationally distributed “Blues Breaks.” He holds a master's in Southern Studies from

the University of Mississippi, and has lectured on blues topics at academic

conferences. He has taught at Port Townsend Country Blues Workshop and Puget

Sound Guitar Workshop, as well as at colleges and festivals. His performances on

riverboats and at festivals, museums, schools, nightclubs, jook joints and private

events combine stories, history and live performance.

“Sure, Ken Burns is good at research. But can he play guitar? Burns has made

documentaries about jazz, but can he sing? Steve Cheseborough can, and does, in one-

man shows that bring the Delta blues to life.” – Oregon Coast Today
