Intermediate Fan Dance Class

Introduction

Chinese Fan Dance is a refined traditional Chinese dance that builds on foundational techniques to explore deeper artistic expression and narrative storytelling. Building on beginner skills, this intermediate course focuses on complex fan manipulations, dynamic movement transitions, and expressive choreography that conveys emotion and cultural themes.

Participants will refine their control of the fan, expand their movement vocabulary, and learn to integrate breath, rhythm, and intention into their performance. Previous experience in Chinese Fan Dance or equivalent dance training is required. The course is designed for those who wish to deepen their practice, develop performance artistry, and explore the rich heritage of Chinese traditional dance.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Execute advanced fan techniques, including intricate manipulations, directional changes, and expressive fan work.

• Perform complex movement sequences with fluidity, precision, and artistic intent.

• Integrate breath control, rhythm, and emotional expression into choreographic performance.

• Interpret and embody the cultural and narrative themes embedded in intermediate-level Chinese Fan Dance pieces.
