Convened by Dr Darren Chetty and the English Education Research Group

Children’s and Young Adult Literature (CYAL) Book Group

The UCL IoE Children’s and Young Adult Literature (CYAL) Book Group is open to all current staff, partnership schools and students at UCL.

We will meet once a month to talk together about two books - one of which will usually be a picture book.We invite people to read the two books and come along with a question about each book; perhaps something you are curious or puzzled about or something you are keen to put to the rest of the group.

The group is convened by Dr Darren Chetty.

We will start with two books that feature intergenerational stories. Both writers are past winners of The Little Rebels Award.

The Fights That Make Us (2024) Sarah Hagger-Holthttps://booksforkeeps.co.uk/article/an-interview-with-little-rebels-award-winner-sarah-hagger-holt/

Our Story Starts in Africa (2022), written by Patrice Lawrence, illustrated by Jeanetta Gonzaleshttps://booksforkeeps.co.uk/review/our-story-starts-in-africa/
