Cambridge Raspberry Jam (known as CamJam) is an event and meet-up for those interested in the Raspberry Pi family of computing devices, and other technologies which encourage making and education.
There will be a series of talks, organised Raspberry Pi workshops, plus a “Show and Tell” area for people to show off their projects. We are fully inclusive of technology: if your project is based around an Arduino, micro:bit or something else, we would still love to see it!
There will be a pop up shop by Raspberry Pi and potentially other vendors (TBC).
This CamJam is being hosted by Makespace, Cambridge's community workshop.
Please note: this is a ticketed event with a small admission fee (but only for adults - children can attend for free). However, if this would affect your ability to attend, please contact us
Children must always be supervised while at Makespace with a maximum ratio of one adult to three children. This is a Makespace health and safety requirement and a condition for holding CamJam at Makespace.
We are going to be offering an assortment of activities, which will include:
There will be pop up Raspberry Pi and Raspberry Pi Publishing shops.
We are looking for the following to help us to make the Jam the best experience possible.
Please make sure you read our Code of Conduct before attending one of our events.
Does your son or daughter have special educational needs? We would like to help. Please read our Access for All policy and let us know when booking.
Details about the talks will be here when available - if you would like to give a talk, please contact us.
Anyone attending a workshop will need to have a general admission ticket.
These workshops are self-guided for the most part but we'll have help on-hand should you get stuck.
Details about the workshops will be shown here when released.
CamJam is being held at Makespace which is in the centre of the city of Cambridge, UK.
Pros:
Cons:
Unfortunately, parking in Cambridge is a bit of a nightmare and very expensive!
If you are attending the Jam, we would suggest using the Park and Rides available around the outskirts of the city. The Park and Ride bus stops are about a five minute walk away from Makespace. We will provide a map of how to get from them to Makespace!
For those exhibiting in our Show and Tell area, we are hoping be able to arrange a safe drop off. More details on this will be provided later! However, you will still need to move your car and park away from the venue during the event.
There is off-road parking at the Graduate Hotel @ £3 per hour.
For on-street parking, I would suggest Sedgwick Avenue and adjacent side streets. There is more on-street parking along Queen's Road.
Please be warned: you can park at the Grand Arcade car park, but four hours parking is over £14!
All our "Jam Makers" - our name for all the wonderful helpers that make the event possible - must comply with the Raspberry Pi Foundation Safeguarding policy. Ideally, you will have completed the online Safeguarding course linked from that page.
You can find out more about Cambridge Raspberry Jam from our website.
