It's never too late to celebrate Jane Austen, the witty English novelist known for Pride and Prejudice and Emma and her realistic portrayals of social life and relationships in the early 19th century.
Join us for a tea and scones, an Austen trivia contest, and a brief talk from Maria Frawley, George Washington University English Professor and author of the recently published Jane Austen in 50 Words. Together, let's celebrate the birthday of the woman who brought us the quintessential books that explore women navigating the complexities of their social world while learning to better understand and honor themselves. And let us not forget that Austen inspired, if not created, the unforgettable scene of a soaking wet Colin Firth emerging from the pond in BBC's adaptation of Pride and Prejudice!
Maria Frawley is a Professor of English at the George Washington University, where she routinely offers courses in nineteenth-century British literature. She is the author of several books, most recently Jane Austen in 50 Words, published in October from Bloomsbury Publishing.
REFUND POLICY: Please note that we can issue ticket refunds up until seven (7) days before the event.
