In the late 1970s, the rise of the openly Nazi National Front seemed unstoppable. They gained ground in elections and spread violence on the streets—harassing and even murdering Black and Asian people, as well as Jews, refugees, LGBT+ people, trade unionists and others.
Their advance was halted by the Anti Nazi League — a vibrant, united front of anti-racists who, despite their differences, came together to stop fascism in its tracks.
Join us as Geoff Brown, the ANL’s former Manchester organiser and author of a new book on its history, discusses those crucial years with Peter Hain, a key figure in the movement, and other activists past and present.
Together we’ll explore how the lessons of the ANL can guide our struggle today against the likes of racist Reform UK and Tommy Robinson’s fascist thugs.
All welcome - except Nazis.
Entry by ticket-only. We reserve the right to refuse admission.
