Join Gazelli Art House in celebrating the launch of 'Gaberbocchus Common Room', a new publication by Jasia Reichardt.

_

The 'Gaberbocchus Common Room' tells the story of London's first club for both artists and scientist's, and particularly for those interested in the dialogue between them.

Running between 1957 and 1959, at the Gaberbocchus Common Room members and their guests could see films, listen to talks or performers, read journals, look at works of art, eat spaghetti and drink wine. This new book by celebrated writer and curator Jasia Reichardt chronicles its history.

Gazelli Art House is delighted to host this event as part of our ongoing commitment to fostering critical dialogue around digital and computer-based art. We are honoured to collaborate with the pioneering curator Jasia Reichardt on the launch of her new publication. A foundational figure in the field, Reichardt was among the earliest advocates for computer art and introduced this emerging medium to broad public audiences through her landmark 1968 exhibition Cybernetic Serendipity at the ICA, London.

This book launch forms part of Gazelli’s continued programme dedicated to contextualising the past, present, and future of digital practices. Most recently, in October 2025, we hosted a two-day Digital Art Symposium — an evolution of the Roundtable discussions the gallery has convened since 2023 — bringing together artists, technologists, academics, and cultural leaders for in-depth conversation and exchange.

We look forward to welcoming you on 9 December for the launch of Gaberbocchus Common Room and to continuing to champion the histories and trajectories of computer-based art.
