You are invited to the launch of a vital new book for the trade union movement, State of Struggle by John McInally, published by Manifesto

Book Launch: A State of Struggle by John McInally, Manifesto Press

The event will take place on Tuesday, 12 November at 7pm at the Marx Library and Workers School on Clerkenwell Green, London. The nearest tube station is Farringdon.

John will be joined for the evening by past PCS general secretary Mark Serwotka and by UCU executive member Lucy Burke.

State of Struggle is an important work. In it, John McInally provides an account and analysis of the development of his union from a Marxist perspective within the context of the wider class struggle. Born in Glasgow, he became a trade union activist during the Winter of Discontent and has spent a lifetime seeking a path for unionism free from sectarianism and reformism. He helped build a union at the forefront of confrontations with the Thatcher and Blair governments.

This is a unique opportunity to meet the author, hear his insights, and discuss the lessons for today's organisers. While focused on the PCS union, its relevance extends to every trade unionist.
