Swap books you’re done with (or just didn't finish!) for something fresh and settle in for a communal read. Part 2 of our residency.

Black literature. Local voices. Join the conversation.

Keep the stories moving. Join us for a Tuesday evening designed to help you decompress.

Following our launch social, Part 2 of our residency at the Black Cultural Centre is all about discovery and focus. We’re leaning into the "alone together" vibe—the comfort of being in your own world with a book, but surrounded by your community.

The No-Judgment Swap Have a book sitting on your shelf that you finished and loved? Bring it. Have a book you got ten pages into and realized just wasn't for you? Bring that too. One person’s "DNF" is another person’s new favorite.

What to expect:

  • The Community Swap: Bring a book (or three) that needs a new home and swap them for something fresh from our collective shelf.
  • The Settle-In: Once you’ve found your next read, find a spot. We’ll have a dedicated block of time for a "Silent Book Club" session—shared, quiet reading in a cosy community setting.
  • Straight From Work? We start at 6:00 PM. If you’re heading over straight from the office like we are, just drop in when you can, grab a drink, and find your seat.

This residency is proudly supported by Go Africa Islington and our media sponsors:
