BEYOND BEING ‘DIFFERENT’: Supporting Young People by Seeing the Whole Story

Join us in person for an eye-opening event all about truly understanding and supporting young people. We’ll dive into how young people bring with them a spectrum of identities, experiences, and unwritten rules about how adults should engage with them. When these differences aren’t understood, connection can break down often showing up as resistance, conflict, or “challenging behaviour.”

This one-day training offers a space to pause, reflect, and practise new ways of

approaching young people who feel “different” to us. Through guided reflection,

practical tools, and group discussion, we’ll explore how to meet difference with

curiosity instead of judgement, and how to create environments where young people

feel seen, respected, and supported

BY ATTENDING YOU WILL

  • Strengthen your confidence in working across difference
  • Deepen your understanding of how identity and bias influence relationships
  • Create inclusive, safe spaces where young people feel heard with compassion
  • Gain practical, human-centred strategies to build trust with young people
  • Leave with fresh energy, insight, and tools you can apply immediately in your practice
