Walk the Hilbre Art Trail spotting coastal nature, then return to create in welcoming art workshops — join one or stay for both.
Art, nature and sea air — explore Hilbre Island, then create your own artwork with real artists.
Join us for a relaxed creative day on Hilbre Island with the BADA Artists Hilbre Art Trail & Workshops.
From 12:00pm, visit us at the former Buoymaster’s Workshop to collect your Hilbre Art Trail sheet and begin your self-guided walk. Using our illustrated guide, explore the island at your own pace while spotting coastal plants, textures and small natural details in the landscape. The trail is suitable for all ages and abilities and is designed as an enjoyable, mindful walk around the island.
After your walk, return to BADA’s buildings to take part in hands-on art workshops inspired by what you’ve discovered. The workshops take place inside the Grade II listed former Buoymaster’s Workshop, a historic building not normally open to the public.
All materials are provided and no experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to have a go.
You can book one workshop or stay and enjoy both (£5 per workshop).
Workshops
1:00pm — Drawing Workshop with local Contempory artist Amanda Oliphant A welcoming contemporary drawing session focusing on observation and mark-making inspired by the island environment. Suitable for beginners and anyone wanting to loosen up their drawing style.
2:00pm — Abstract Painting Workshop with Terry Duffy (Founder & CEO, BADA) Explore colour, shape and expression in a guided abstract painting workshop. Terry will introduce simple approaches to creating expressive artwork, encouraging experimentation and personal interpretation.
This is a friendly, informal creative experience rather than a formal art class. Whether you’re completely new to art or already creative, you’re invited to explore, make and enjoy the island.
