Fungi & Folklore

This is not a “pick and eat” mushroom course.

Instead, this extended autumn session teaches you how to properly see fungi — safely, slowly, and with respect. We’ll explore fungal folklore, fears, and traditions, alongside careful observation and non-edible uses.

What we’ll cover

  • How to observe and describe fungi
  • Folk beliefs, taboos, and stories
  • When not to harvest

Includes

  • Extended fungi walk
  • Making fungal ink or dye
  • Strong emphasis on safety and restraint
  • Notes for further learning

Ideal for curious beginners who want understanding, not risk.

Dinner can be supplied by the venue on request at an extra cost of £18pp, either over the phone, or via a payment link, arranged on 01342 822238.
