Are You Seeing What I’m Seeing? – Guided Gallery Tour + Art Activity

Begin with a guided tour of Are You Seeing What I’m Seeing?, a group exhibition featuring 34 artists who each created new work in response to prompts written by South Bay journalist and co-curator of the exhibition, Bondo Wyszpolski.

At its core, the exhibition explores how artists translate text into image—how words evoke atmosphere, narrative, and emotion, and how individual perception shapes creative outcomes. Although every artist began with similarly structured prompts, the resulting works reveal the wide range of visual interpretations a single phrase can inspire.

After the tour, it’s your turn to create.

Visitors are invited to select one of five prompts displayed in the gallery and translate language into visual form—literal, abstract, or experimental. Using provided materials such as scrapbook paper, markers, crayons, and oil pastels, you’ll create your own artistic response.

When finished, you’ll add your artwork to the gallery’s community wall, becoming part of the exhibition’s evolving dialogue.
