
This demonstration is part of the NEO Studio Program: Applying for Arts Opportunites Workshop Series. Hosted by Katie Butler, the program is designed to help artists prepare application materials for grants, residencies, graduate programs, exhibitions, and other career-advancing opportunities.
In this workshop session, local photographer and arts professional Anna Young will lead a demonstration on how to document your portfolio. Aritsts will learn how to properly photograph their work for inventory and application purposes.
Anna E. Young is an artist and arts advocate. She holds an M.F.A. in Photgraphy from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a B.F.A. from the University of Akron, with minors in Printmaking, Art History, and Professional Photography. She works full-time at Summit Artspace as the Director of Artist Programs and Exhibitions.
Young has been an assistant lecturer at the University of Akron, Myers School of Art, in the 2D Design and Photography department for over three years. She is the co-founder of KINK Contemporary, an arts organization whose mission is to support emerging aritsts and curators. She is a self-portrait photographer who creates fine art photographs that showcase different personas that she creates. Each of her characters relates to personal trauma, social issues, body dysmorphia, and mortality.
The demonstration will be held at Katie Butler's studio in downtown Akron, Ohio. It is free to attend, but registration is required. Doors open at 5:30pm and the demonstration will begin at 5:45pm. Please come to the main entrance of Bounce Innovation Hub off of W. Falor Street for entry. Visitor parking is available out front.
