Nottingham theatre scratch night/gig theatre open mic returns in 2026!

We’re thrilled to announce the return of ‘Allsorts’, Nottingham’s gig-theatre

scratch night for anyone who wants to build new artistic collaborations, test out their

latest work with a supportive audience, or just enjoy a great night out.

The first ‘Allsorts’ is 22 January at Fisher Gate Point (NG1 1GD) and our aim is

to make this a monthly event to support long term collaborations and professional

working relationships. Anyone is welcome to attend and we aim to make the event

accessible and relaxed. If you have any questions about accessibility do contact us.

Allsorts is like a traditional ‘open-mic’, but with a focus on collaboration and

building new connections. You can bring any kind of performance art – music,

poetry, theatre, live art, improv, clowning, short films, or whatever else you want to

share – or you can attend simply as an audience member.

If you want to perform something specific, you can sign up for a slot of

maximum 8 minutes, in the first half of the show. We encourage you to bring early

drafts, works-in-progress, and weird experiments!

You can also sign up to ‘Jam’. The space will be open early, from 5:30pm-6:30pm.

In this time, you can chat to other artists who want to Jam, and then devise and

perform something new, to show in the second half. (There will also be time during

the interval to sign up.)

Whatever you choose to perform, we encourage you to arrive at 5:30pm, and

engage with the other creatives in the room, especially if you bring different things

to the table. If you’re a writer and don’t want to read out your work, link up with some

actors before the show! In the interval, take the opportunity to chat, make new

connections and maybe build your next creative partnership...

Is my artform welcome at Allsorts?

We aim to be open to all forms of art, so hopefully yes! The performance space is

small, with a limited tech setup, so do contact us if you’re uncertain as to whether

we’d be able to accommodate you.

What technical support is available?

Sound:

  • Sound desk with Bluetooth receiver and aux cable (can play music from a laptop or phone with Bluetooth capabilities).
  • Two microphones with stands.
  • Two amps.

Light:

  • A projector that can plug into a laptop.

There is no lighting control, and no backstage. Please let us know if you need

someone to cue your sound, or help your act to run smoothly.

How much are tickets?

No-one will be turned away for lack of funds, but if you can afford it, a £4 donation

will enable us to keep running the night.

How long are performance slots?

Each performer will have an eight minute performance timeslot. If you sign up in

advance, please let us know if you think you’ll use the full ten minutes or if you need

less time. Depending on demand, the timeslot length might vary for future events.

How many people attend?

We don’t know yet! Previously, audiences tended to be between 60-100 throughout

the year, with an average of 20-40 most frequent.

How old do I have to be to perform?

Please only apply if you are over 18.
