So you've done a beginners/foundation course - what's next?
In The Acting Lab's Intermediate Level course you will learn, practise and utilise reliable, professional techniques to take you confidently from the first reading of a script through to performance. By using script analysis and developing objectives, needs and actions you can breathe life into any character and become a self-sufficient, authentic actor.
As this is a higher level course, you will go deeper in your focus and expand your mindset. As an actor, you need to follow your impulses, be fully alive and go moment to moment.
Class exercises will include: structured improvisation, character analysis; individual, pair and group work; an introduction to Lecoq movement techniques to discover new ways to physicalise characters. We will continue the work begun in the beginners course on areas such as voice-work, listening skills, spatial awareness, relaxation and stage presence.
You will have the chance to work with various partners on simple scripted scenes then do more in-depth work with a chosen partner by developing a scene from a theatre play or film script, or do a monologue if you prefer to work on your own.
There will be an exciting opportunity to perform scenes for each other in the last class.
NB: Homework and preparation for classes will be assigned every week.
Who is this for?
Students who have completed a previous Acting course with The Acting Lab (either group or 1:1), or other relevant experience or training (contact us to check if suitable).
