A Very Private Collector. Stanley Spencer and the Wilfrid Evill Collection.

Wilfrid Evill was one of the most significant collectors of British art in the mid-twentieth century, yet his name is known to very few. His collecting, especially of the work of Stanley Spencer, was largely ignored until recently, but we can now see that not only did Evill amass an incredible range of paintings and sculpture, but that it helps shed new light on the taste of his times and our own.
