Friday 7 August
Stade Kitchen, Hastings (kitchen.hiddenbea.ch residency)
Join us for a hands-on Moroccan cooking workshop as part of the kitchen.hiddenbea.ch residency at the Stade Kitchen, running every weekend from Friday to Sunday. This session uses food as a way to support cultural learning, participation and social connection through a shared cooking and eating experience.
The workshop explores how Moroccan flavour is built, balanced and shared — focusing on spices, techniques and the cultural traditions that shape Moroccan food, brought to life through collective preparation and tasting.
Working together as a group, participants explore key Moroccan spices through smell and taste, prepare ingredients, and contribute to a shared vegetable tagine cooked centrally by the facilitator. Rather than following a fixed recipe, the session encourages discussion, decision-making and reflection, helping participants understand how warmth, sweetness and savoury depth are created and balanced in Moroccan cuisine.
The session is designed to be inclusive and accessible. Participants take part through preparation, flavour choices and shared tasting, with final cooking managed centrally to ensure safety and comfort for all. The workshop ends with everyone eating together and reflecting on what they’ve learned about flavour, process and cultural context.
This is a relaxed, participatory experience suitable for adults and families, with no prior cooking experience required.
This workshop is open to anyone interested in food, culture and learning. It is designed to be welcoming, social and participatory, whether you cook often or are completely new to Moroccan food.
