'A Ceremony of Carols' for Candlemas

English Chamber Choir

Rufus Frowde conductor

Hertfordshire County Youth Choir

James Slimings conductor

Andreana Chan organist

Daniel DeFry harpist

The English Chamber Choir is one of the UK’s leading and busiest vocal ensembles. Recent highlights include the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, London Palladium (with Rick Wakeman), Buckingham Palace, Temple Church, Greek Orthodox Cathedral of St Sophia and many concerts at St Martin in the Fields and abroad. They are joined by the acclaimed Hertfordshire County Youth Choir and young singers from Samuel Lucas JMI School (School).

The centrepiece of the concert is Benjamin Britten’s exquisite ‘Ceremony of Carols' for choir and harp in a Candlemas programme exploring the close of the Christmas season and the theme of light in the transition from Winter to Spring.

The choirs are conducted by highly-acclaimed conductors, Rufus Frowde and James Slimings and accompanied by Andreana Chan and Daniel de Fry - world-class, leading musicians of their generation.

The 80-minute concert will run without interval.
