Waste to Grow is the theme for the 2026 School Veg Box Comp. Free to enter and a great way to learn more about where our food comes from.

Welcome to the 2026 School Vegetable Box Competition!

Date: Entries close at 5pm on Friday, January 30 2026. Packs delivered end of February 2026.

Location: Grown on school grounds with the Grand Final at the Great Yorkshire Show

Exploring how we can use waste products to grow food, with our theme of Waste to Grow.

Sign up to take part and receive a starter pack of seeds, organic compost from Yorganics Compost and a bag of peat free all natural worm cast fertiliser from Wormganix to get your veg box underway.

If you are new to the competition or need a new box, we can provide a flatpack veg box with construction instructions or reuse your old box.

All schools will also receive a special growing diary from Pink Pig, ready to be filled with your growing journey and all you learn about re-using waste products. And access to a special on-line growing portal provided by Grow to School CIC.

Free to enter and open to school groups with Year 1 - Year 6 pupils, we are looking forward to welcoming new and returning growers.

Please only sign up if you can commit to taking part. We appreciate that circumstances change but we only have a limited number of places and resources available for this competition.

With thanks to our sponsors: Wormganix, Yorganics Compost, Wormganix, Grow to School and Pink Pig.
