Are you interested in more safe spaces to walk, bike or run? Do you crave better access to the great outdoors? Are you looking for other people ready to jumpstart a year of positive local action? The annual Charlottesville / Albemarle Active Mobility Summit is for you!
Thursday evening will be a celebration, with lots of informal interaction. Our keynote speaker (Pete Eschelman, director of Roanoke Outside) will talk about Roanoke’s approach to prosperity, which focuses on outdoor access – and how they built their fabulous greenway system. We will celebrate some local highlights from the last year, honor a local champion (nominations encouraged!) and share ways that you can get more involved.
The next morning, attendees will reconvene to talk about practical solutions. Pete will be joined by a panel of leaders from the local area and around the state to share their success stories and lessons learned. (Stay tuned for that announcement!) They will be followed by breakout groups to dive deep into the issues discussed in both presentations. All throughout the summit, attendees will be encouraged to share their own visions.
You don’t need to attend both sessions to benefit but it is encouraged. Both sessions will include snacks and drinks. No matter your background, all are welcome! This free event is hands-on and collaborative, centered on learning, active participation and fellowship. For planning purposes, registration is required.
Full agenda, speaker list, and more details to come.
