
Welcome to the 2026 Beekeeping Course!
Evening lectures given by experienced beekeepers will be held at Middlesex University (The Burroughs, Hendon, London NW4 4BT) on Wednesday evenings from 19.30 – 21.30 as follows:

Ø The Beekeeping Year and Apiary Hygiene – 25 March 2026
Ø Swarming and Swarm Control – 1 April 2026
Ø Varroa and other pests – 15 April 2026
Ø Diseases of Bees and Brood 22 April 2026
Ø Hive Products – 29 April 2026
The course will then continue on Saturday mornings from May to September (weather permitting) at one of the Association’s apiaries in Arkley. This will guide you through the most active part of the beekeeping season, including monitoring a bee colony, equipment upkeep, making frames, extracting and bottling honey.
The fee of £215 includes a coursebook, lecture notes, hive tool, membership of The Barnet & District Beekeepers Association and insurance while in the apiary. Participants will be asked to provide their own bee suit and smoker, ready for the practical sessions starting in May.
Refunds for cancellations received at least 10 days prior to the course start date will be at the discretion of the event organisers. After that time no refunds will be offered unless we can fill your place from a waiting list. In the event that the course is cancelled a full refund will be offered.
