Join us for a series of inspiring and practical events designed to help Minneapolis restaurants, cafes, bakeries, caterers, food trucks, and other similar businesses to prevent and divert food waste!

"86" Food Waste series brings together local chefs, restaurants, and food business leaders who are successfully tackling food waste through prevention and diversion.


What to Expect at Each Event:

  • Short Discussions: Hear from Minneapolis waste prevention experts and restaurant professionals who have implemented effective food waste prevention and diversion strategies.
  • Resource Tabling & Networking: Connect with local organizations offering tools, resources, and support to help restaurants reduce food waste efficiently and sustainably.


October 20th: Prevention – Strategies to prevent wasted food

Featured Speakers:

This event will focus on food waste prevention, including managing food scrap waste, creative reuse and menu design, and inventory management.


November 17th: Diversion – Resources to divert food from the landfill

Madeleine Partch, Program Coordinator, Minnesota Waste Wise

This event will educate participants on food waste diversion, including how to set up composting and organics recycling systems, access grants for support, and implement food donation processes.

Additionally, interact with Chowgirls Catering as they demo zero-waste chef stations and composting back-of-house and at catering events.
